prone and supine

There was a report in Today’s Independent, by Steve Tongue, on Juan Martin Del Potro’s quarter-final victory over David Ferrer, which claimed that at the end of the match ‘he was prone… celebrating one of the more remarkable victories at this astonishing Wimbledon’. But the accompany photo shows him lying on his back. So he wasn’t prone, which means lying on one’s front. He was supine.
