problems and goblins

August 15, 2015

The subtitles on television often throw up comical errors when there’s a live transmission; they must operate on some sort of voice-recognition programme, which is not 100% reliable. Anyway there was a good one on BBC 1’s Final Score today. The presenter said “Dick Advocaat must be a worried man, he’s got big problems”, while the subtitles said “Dick Advocaat must be a worried man, he’s got big goblins”.

I think the mistake is better than the correct version. I wonder if it could catch on as an expression?
